?? | Lexington | • Beechwood fans, your first state championship of the school year once again comes back to Fort Mitchell, courtesy of your girls Cross Country team.

Coach Patricia Sturgeon, relying on the same seven runners as the previous season, packed five scorers in the top 15 to outpace LCA for the second straight year.

? Individual honors went to Fort Campbell 7th grader Emmie Underwood, who toured the Horse Park course 16 seconds ahead of Beechwood's Lily Parke. It's the second straight runner-up finish for the Tiger soph who placed just ahead of classmate Nora Wilke.

LCA was led by 8th grader Kennedy Moughamian, placing 4th in her first State meet appearance.

Congratulations Emmie and the Tigers! ?

1A is deep with excellent underclass runners - all of the top ten will return next year.

Look for another Tigers - Lady Eagles championship duel next year - both graduate just one of their top seven.

The State Meet once again showcased the depth of NKY's Region 4 - five teams placed among the best nine.
