6th Grade Football State Playoffs

Featured Replies

Who are the teams around the state that have a chance to win it all? Mayfield 6th grade is loaded and should come out of the West. Just wondering who else is really good around the state.

I’ve never even heard of a 6th grade state championship.

They just started it last year.

CCH Colonels middle school 6th grade team was phenomenal last 2 years. They are in the GCYL playing Elder & Cincy Moeller kids. Won the whole thing 2 yrs ago and last year made a run at Rocky Top National Championship 2 yrs and almost won that.

Their in 7th grade this year and the team is playing up in the 8th gr varsity this year.

Gotcha.  Most NKY 7th and 8th grade teams play in the NKMSAA, with the exception of the 4 Boone County teams and Colonel Youth's 8th Grade "A Team".  And those NKMSAA Playoffs overlap the KY "Middle School" State Tournament.  I guess these 6th grade teams would be NKYFL teams?

Yea the state playoffs aren’t universal across the state as other regions have their own playoffs. I know Mayfield 7th and 8th grade participate in the Southwest KY playoffs against teams like Owensboro, Hopkinsville, Christian County etc. But Paducah and McCracken that are in West KY participate in the statewide playoffs as does Bowling Green. I’m guessing the Louisville schools do their own thing too. So yes as of now it’s all over the place and there is no true state champion.

I just saw this on the KY Middle School Football Association’s Facebook page. As of this morning, this is the list of schools participating in the statewide playoffs this year. More could be added if a schools coach or AD chooses to do so.

This is not the case the last couple of years. This year the only CCH team playing in the NKYFL league is the 7th/8th  gr “B” Combo team.
They have 7-8 teams in the GCYL grades 3-8.

Some play up and some are combo teams.

I know the 7th gr “A” team is playing up in the 8th gr Varsity, almond w the 8th grade team.

Strong #s for the youth Colonels!
