Name Chris Mobley

School Dixie Heights

Position Defensive Coordinator

Can you give us a brief history of your coaching career? Where you have coached and the position you have held at each stop.

My Coaching career began at Tusky Valley High School as the WR/DB Coach. I did this during my last year of college when I was finished playing football. This experience inspired me to stick with Coaching in the future.

Upon graduating I spent several years coaching defensive line at Muskingum university and Kentucky Christian University .

In 2016 I took over as the Head Coach at Hughes High School where I coached 6 seasons.

Looking to this season what are your biggest concerns as far as the defense goes for Dixie Heights?

I don’t have concerns. What happened last season is in the past. A lot of growth and learning has happened since then and it will continue as we push forward this off season. With that being said we play some of the best teams in Northern Kentucky and I have a ton of respect for what they do. Each week we’ll have to put our best foot forward if we want to have success.

Which type of offense is the hardest to prepare for? Explain.

From my experiences I’d say teams with great offensive line play. Regardless of scheme if you can control the line of scrimmage you can impose your will and control the tempo of the game.

What type of defense will you be running at Dixie Heights this coming season?

We will be running the 4-2-5.

What are your goals for the defense this season?

Our main goal is to hold each opponent to less points than we score each game.

What are you looking forward to the most this season?

We have a great group of hardworking young men here. Attendance has been amazing , they work extremely hard, and they are hungry for success. Coach Burke is doing an amazing job leading this program and I'm very excited to see our progress on the field this fall.

Looking back from day one as a coach up to the present what have been the low and high points of your coaching career?

The low was my first year as a Head Coach at Hughes. I was 28 years old and had 0 head coaching experience. We went 2-8 .

The High Points would be the 2019,2020, and 2021 seasons. We had 3 consecutive winning seasons for the first time in school history and first winning season since 2007. First playoff births in school history and most wins in school history during my tenure as Head Coach .

Who is the best player you have played or coached against and what team did he play for?

The best player I played against was Javon Ringer when I was in 8th grade. He ended up having a pretty good career. We were teammates in the Dayton Allstar game also . The best player I coached against was Kayvon Britton from western hills. He is a very special talent.

What are your thoughts on girls playing on the boys football team?

I have no issue with it.

What is the biggest difference in coaching in Ohio compared to Kentucky?

Since I haven’t coached a game here yet it’s hard to tell. But by watching film on our future opponents I can tell you that they’re coached up really well and play hard. I do LOVE the fact that Kentucky has spring ball. It’s extremely beneficial.

From the coach
