7th Region Week 9 Review

This past week Ballard and Male met again but Male got the upper hand this time handing Ballard their first region loss of the season with an 81-76 win at home. Male was led by the Edelen brothers who were the leading scorers for Male with Cole scoring 28 and Jack scoring 16. Ballard's Miles Franklin led the Bruins with 27 and Gabe Sisk chipped in 18. We could get a game 3 if they meet up in the region tournament. Since this was Ballard's first regional loss and was on the road and have a win over Male will leave Ballard at #1 for now. Trinity 6-1 in the region remains #2 and went 2-0 this past week. Andrae Vasser has returned to Trinity's lineup scoring 6 points against Madison Central. Male vaults to #3 with the big win over Ballard and they are 4-3 in the region with the losses all to the top teams in the region. Saint Xavier is 6-4 in the region and escaped with a close win over Seneca who is an improved team. Manual is 7-1 in the region but still playing without Damone King who last played on 12/29. Seneca has stepped up their play with a stretch of beating Trinity, playing Oldham County close, beating Christian Academy-Louisville and a tough one point loss to St. X on the road. District play starts in a few weeks which should lead to a very competitive regional tournament.

Ballard beat Eastern 72-65 and lost to Male 81-76. Next game is at Fern Creek on 1/30.

2. Trinity (16-6)

Trinity beat Madison Central 63-50 and beat Atherton 62-32. Next game is at Lexington Catholic on 2/3.

3. Male (13-10)

Male beat Scott County 81-37 and beat Ballard 81-76. Next game is at home against CAL on 1/30.

4. Saint Xavier (15-7)

St. X beat Eastern 68-58, beat Moore 70-62, and beat Seneca 64-63. Next game is at home against CAL on 1/31.

5. Manual (14-9)

Manual beat Jeffersontown 53-50 and beat Southern 63-55. Next game is at home against Portland Christian on 2/3.

6. Seneca (10-10)

Seneca beat CAL 73-63, lost to Oldham County 74-67, and lost to St. X 64-63. Next game is at Male on 1/31.

7. Eastern (14-7)

Eastern beat Montgomery County 93-58 and lost to St. X 68-58. Next game is at Western Hills on 1/30.

8. Christian Academy - Louisville (10-12)

CAL lost to Bullitt East 75-62, lost to Seneca 73-63, and lost to DeSales 75-43. Next game is at Male on 1/30.

9. Central (10-12)

Central beat Brown 83-50 and lost to Moore 62-59. Next game is at home against W.E.B. DuBois on 1/30.

10. Collegiate (10-8)

Collegiate beat Southern 39-27 and lost to Owen County 42-37. Next game is at home against Beth Haven on 1/31.
