Bullitt East 2022

How about those Chargers! I know the head coach is getting talked about a lot, especially with the 2pt call to win the game but I just wanted to bring up a couple of other things. 

The administration has absolutely supported and equipped the staff to succeed.  It's magnified if you are a team fortunate enough to make it to week 5 of the playoffs.  But the amount of work this past week done by the school, parents, support staff was staggering.  As the players visited all of the elementary schools, middle school, several other areas around town they were fed, cheered, promoted and praised. A weekly podcast the entire season. Countless businesses got behind the team and coaches.  Volunteers, many of them not even having kids on the team, spent hours working behind the scenes to make sure they had everything they needed. 

Now about the game.  The defense has taken a back seat to the offense for most of the year.  The Bullitt East offense is indeed one of the best in the state and deserves the accolades that it got.  Travis Egan is Mr. Football.  But after spotting Male 14 points in LESS THAN A MINUTE, the defense didn't allow another point in the first half.  Then, with the game knotted up to start the second half, the defense kept the Chargers in the game in the 3rd qtr when Male shut that high powered offense down.  Male's O started on the Bullitt East side of the field several times.  The defense saved the game for BE yesterday.  You won't see that written too many places this weekend, but they did. 

I've also seen "First year head coach", written many, many times the last 3 or 4 weeks.  Well that first year head coach had a LOT of help.  In addition to the previously mentioned school support staff, Coach Kendrick has an outstanding young coaching staff !!
