Well here we go, typical Girls Soccer State tournament, pitting 2 top teams in the first round....UGH!  Well you have to win 4, so who cares in what order, right?

Lex Cath and Highlands did not meet this season.  We almost did if Highlands had beaten Dunbar in the 1st Rd of the Lex Cath Invitation but instead we took the L.  But we had 7 COMMON OPPONENTS

SACRED HEART:  Lex Cath lost 0-3, HHS lost 0-5

WEST JESS:  Lex Cath won 6-0, HHS tied 1-1

SIMON KENTON:  Lex Cath won 1-0, HHS won both time: 2-1 & 7-2

DUNBAR:  Lex Cath won both times: 4-0 & 3-0, HHS lost 2-3 in a shootout

ASSUMPTION: Lex Cath won both times: 3-2 & 2-1, HHS lost 2-3

LAFAYETTE: Lex Cath won both times: 2-1 & 4-0, HHS won 5-1

BROSSART: Lex Cath won 5-0, HHS won 3-1

Those are some really good close splits (minus the West Jess/Dunbar matchups).

Lexington Catholic has to be walking into this game feeling very confident not having lost since their opening game versus Sacred Heart.  The have scored an incredibly high # of goals 119 versus Highlands 84

Lex Cath is lead in scoring by #13 Mary Hampton (30 goals), #11 Katherine Truitt (16 goals), #20 Olivia Bretz (13 goals) and #25 Sara-Kate Barnes (13 goals).  Highlands is lead in scoring by Laney Smith (31 goals), Kate Jamie (15 goals), Claire Cavacini (14 goals) and Anna Melson (12 goals).

Another Lex Cath player to call out is #24 Zara McCarthy she has recorded an incredibly high # of assists 22 of them in the Stat sheet.

Just saw that #11 Katherine Truitt was named Region 11 Player of the Year!  She also is a UK Commit.

I'll root for her next year LOL!!!
