2A District Standings and Update:

West Region

District 1: Not much has been decided up to this point but Ballard Memorial and Fort Campbell battle next week to see who the 4th seed in the district is and who is eliminated. Murray can finish no worse than the 3 seed but if they can find a way to upset Mayfield that will cause a 3-team tie breaker for the top 3 seeds in the district.

District 2: Butler County temporarily moves into the 3seed position with their win over Todd County Central in overtime, but Hancock County still owns the tiebreaker over them and faces Todd County Central next week. Owensboro Catholic and McClean County meet up with the top seed on the line and if Owensboro Catholic and Hancock County (both I’m sure would be considered the favorite) can win their respective games then that would create a 3-team tie breaker for the 2, 3, and 4 seeds.

District 3: Only news that is new in this District is Clinton County is officially eliminated from the playoffs after losing to Monroe County this week. Next week is a huge week for District 3 as Metcalfe County travels to Green County with the winner owning the top seed in the District and the loser being the 2 seed and a possible 2nd round matchup with LCA (assuming LCA beats Danville next week). Edmonson County and Monroe County matchup this week with the 3 seed and 4 seed on the line.

District 4: Danville and LCA won their games this week setting up a huge battle for the top seed in Danville, KY next week. Somerset and Washington County matchup with the 3 and 4 seeds on the line.

East Region

District 5: Biggest game of the week in this district was Carroll County vs Owen County. Carroll County won 53-13 and gets the all-important head-to-head tie breaker in case they need it. Upset special in the district was Gallatin County knocking off Trimble County creating a 3-way tie currently for the 4 seed and the 2 teams that will be eliminated from the playoffs. The bottom 3 teams face the top 3 teams next week so we could very well get that tiebreak scenario.

District 6: Beechwood seizes the top seed in the district by topping Lloyd in Ft. Mitchell. Holy Cross forces a very important game against Lloyd next week for the 2seed assuming Beechwood stays unbeaten in the District against Newport.

District 7: This District has the only team that is locked into their seeding position (Monroe County 4 seed) and only one more matchup to settle the top 3 spots. Next week Breathitt County will travel to Leslie County to try and stay undefeated in the district and assure their 1 seed position.

District 8: Everything stayed status quo in District 8 this week setting up a huge matchup between Prestonsburg and Martin County for the 2 and 3 seeds assuming Shelby Valley wins against District winless Bath County. East Ridge and West Carter face off to avoid being eliminated from the playoffs.

Am I correct in thinking a 3 way tiebreaker is based on rpi, but a 2 way tiebreaker is based on head to head if so

Out west it looks like

1 Mayfield vs 4 Todd County Central

2 Butler County vs 3 Murray

1 Owensboro Catholic vs 4 Ft Campbell

2 Caldwell County vs 3 Mclean County

Mayfield would play either Butler County, or Murray in 2nd round if this is right.  Ballard Memorial is eliminated, and Hancock County is eliminated.  Hancock county went 1-3 in district, as did Todd County Central.  Hancock County has the higher rpi, but since it is a 2 way tie for 4th Todd County Central should get in since won the head to head.  Same goes for Butler County who went 2-2, just like Mclean County, but Butler county won head to head so should get the 2 seed even with lower rpi than Mclean. If I'm wrong please feel free to straighten me out on how this works.

This would all be correct except I haven't seen a final score from Ft. Campbell and Ballard Memorial.

Ft campbell won

Then your break down is correct. I will have the full breakdown once the final few scores come in.

Thank you.  I almost figured it all wrong and was looking at rpi's, then I realised rpi is 3rd round, and beyond unless its a 3 way tie.  District 2 had 2 two way ties
