The Double Deuce
Whoa, the defending state champs needed two OT's and a penalty kick shootout to knock off Station and stay alive in the 11th. Man, I love this time of year, as so many young athletes are playing for the their seasons, and in some cases, for their careers. Dunbar moves on to face Frankfort in the semis in what should be a classic 11th Region Post-season game. Bryan Station had a tough start to the season, but had won 11 of their last 14 games and entered with a ton of confidence, even after losing 1-3 to Freddy D in their district finals. Having drawn Dunbar earlier in the season 1-1, you can't be too surprised that regulation and OTs ended with that same 1-1 score, and PKs weren't kind to Coach Preptit and the Defenders. Station finishes 2022 12-6-2, with 47 goals for and only 24 against.
