St. Xavier 5 Ballard 3

Featured Replies

St. Xavier moves to 13-1-2 (lost 0-1 to Bowling Green and ties vs North Oldham and defending state champion Dunbar) with the 5-3 win over previously undefeated Ballard.  Coach Benitez' Bruins had only played three 1-goal games out of their previous 12, fall to 12-1-0 on the season, and now get a week off before getting Male and North Oldham back-to-back next week.

Anyone in attendance?  I thought St. X had a shot here, to be sure, but I didn't expect 8 goals to be scored, so I'd love some color to the game if possible.

Congrats to the Tigers...man, the 7th Region (Ballard, St. X, Trinity, Collegiate, Manual, etc) is going to be a WAR.  I know the RPI is flawed and should only be used for directional purposes, although it does get better as the season rolls on and we are about 80% of the way through the regular season, but worth noting that the 7th Region has 4 of the top 10 teams and 6 of the top 26.  That is crazy.

The 11th has 5 of the Top 20, for the record.  Equally impressive.  The 9th has 4 of the top 25, with defending state champion CovCath perched at #78.

I just reviewed some Tweets from @VilleHSsoccer from last night, sounds like Ballard came out "lethargic", and St. X led 4-1 at the half.  Wow, that is a heckuva first half by the Tigers.

Also, great nugget from the same source, with that loss last night for Ballard, Cooper and Frederick Douglass are the only undefeated teams in KY at this point.

Cooper will put that to the test tonight against Ryle.
