KY Outsider
If an athlete does not qualify for the state meet at their regional meet or doesn't finish that event in that meet but holds one of the top marks in their event in the state, do they still not make the state meet or are there exceptions that allow them to compete? SoccerDaddy
Top 2 finishers at the Regional meets are the automatic bids. There are 10 at large bids in each event from the best times/jumps/throws throughout the region. Only the scores from the regional meet count for the at large bids. Here is an "unofficial list' of all the qualifiers for AAA, AA, A. https://ky.milesplit.com/articles/315091/unofficial-2022-khsaa-state-qualifiers

What you do during the season is irrelevant. The only way to get to the state is regional performance. This isn’t college where a season qualifying mark gets you in. The reason being, people lie. You would have every kid in the state running a standard. Also a state record can only be set at the state meet.
