Rounds of showers and storms are expected later today into Thursday. Some of the storms later this afternoon into tonight could become strong to severe with isolated instances of damaging wind and hail possible. A brief tornado also cannot be ruled out but is a lesser threat. In addition to those threats, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will be common with any storm. Showers and storms are expected to continue into tonight and Thursday mainly across southern and central Kentucky.

Wednesday afternoon update:

A pronounced low pressure center over southern Illinois will track east across the Ohio Valley
towards the central Appalachians through this evening. Primary severe potential should eventually
form out of the south-southwest flank of the low where some cloud breaks should occur. A couple
supercells should develop during this time. A threat for all severe hazards is possible.
