We'll soon be getting ready for severe weather season. We have been sort of locked into the same weather pattern with weather systems approaching Kentucky from the southeast. The severe outbreaks in December and January were in part caused but this pattern. That is the jet stream coming out of the southeast into Kentucky. It eases some but returns. At present, I think that our upcoming severe weather season may be above normal.

On April 29, 2020, the longest single flash of lightning on record covered a horizontal distance of 477.2 +/- 5 miles in the southern United States from Texas to Mississippi.
