Merry Christmas folks. We're almost halfway through the season. Let's see what action took place last week within the 14th region.


1) Perry County Central (10-1):

Commodores add some hardware to trophy case: The Commodores are red hot going int59-4ating Taylor County 67-52 in the championship game. They keep this up, no one will touch them the rest of the season and post season.

Upcoming Schedule: Mason County Invitational Tournament 12/28-30. They will take on Mason County on the 28th.


2) Breathitt County (6-2):

Bobcats have week off: Breathitt County was off this past week. Their last game was last Saturday were they thrashed Owsley County 92-48. Bobcats are on a three game win streak.

Upcoming Schedule: at Sandestin Hilton Beach Classic at Freeport FL. They will take on Goodhope AL at 1:30 PM on Dec. 27th.


3) Wolfe County (6-4):

Wolves win two at the Jim Lankster Classic: Wolfe County traveled to Lexington Sayre this past week to participate in the Sayre School Jim Lankster Classic. The Wolves opened up with East Jessamine in a hard fought game that see East Jessamine getting past the Wolves 51-43. Wolfe County would go on to win their next two games in the classic, defeating Sayre 56-45 and Bluegrass United Lex KY Home School 69-50.

Upcoming Schedule: Lake Cumberland Holiday Classic at various sites: Wolfe County vs. Smith County (Carthage TN) 12/27, vs. Somerset 12/28 and Aiken (Cincinnati OH) 12/29.


4) Hazard (5-3):

Hazard splits two games in Smokey Mountain Classic: Hazard traveled to Tennessee this past week to participate in the Smokey Mountain Classic at Gatlinburg TN. Both teams were KY teams. Hazard would open up with Paintsville and would fall to the Tigers in a hard fought battle 70-64. Hazard would bounce back beating Calvary Christian 59-47.

Upcoming Schedule: According to Schedule, don't return until January 3rd.


5) Knott County Central (2-5):

Patriots had week off: Knott County Central, just like Breathitt County, didn't play last week. Patriots are 1-4 in their last 5 games.

Upcoming Schedule: Henry County Invitational 12/28-30. Knott County Central vs. Spencer County 12/28.


6) Cordia (4-3):

Lions win their only game: Cordia played just one game this past week, on Monday, they defeated Martin County 98-78 in the Jenkins Cavalier Christmas Classic.

Upcoming Schedule: Returning January 3rd.


7) Letcher County Central (4-5):

Cougars win two at the Battle of the Boarders: Letcher County Central made their way to Lee Jones VA this week to participate in the Battle of the Boarders. Letcher County Central would fall in their first game of the tournament, falling 57-54 to Ridgeview (Clintwood) VA but they would bounce back from the loss and win their two remaining games, defeating Thomas Walker VA 61-31 and KY's own, Pineville 98-79.

Upcoming Schedule: Returning January 4th.


8) Estill County (4-4):

Engineers split two: Estill County split their two games this past week, defeating Owsley County 65-39 but falling the very next afternoon to Floyd Central 79-62. 

Upcoming Schedule: Bath County Dan Swartz Classic 12/28-30. 12/28 Estill County vs. Russell.


9) Buckhorn (5-6):

Wildcats win, snap losing skid: On Monday, the Wildcats defeated the visiting Morgan County Cougars 62-43 to snap a three game losing skid. 

Upcoming Schedule: Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic at Daytona Beach FL 12/27-30. 


10) Lee County (5-4):

Bobcats get big district win: Lee County split their two games they had this past week, the big win was a big, huge if you will, district win over Powell County 81-75. The win would be short lived however, as they would get crushed by Shelby Valley 74-35 at the Jenkins Cavalier Christmas Classic.

Upcoming Schedule: Williamsburg Bill Perkins Holiday Classic 12/28-30.


11) Leslie County (1-6):

Eagles still struggling: Leslie County continues to struggle. Since their win over Floyd Central back on Dec. 14th, they have lost 2 straight. One of them came this past week when they got blew out by Somerset 62-41 in the Arby's/KFC Classic at McCreary Central.

Upcoming Schedule: Williamsburg Bill Perkins Holiday Classic 12/28-30. 12/28 vs. Trinity Christian Academy (Deltona) FL.


12) Powell County (3-5):

Pirates continue to struggle: Powell County started the season off 2-2 with some impressive wins, now have lost 3 out of their last 4 games, including a big district loss on the road at Lee County 81-75 this past week.

Upcoming Schedule: Bath County Dan Swartz Classic 12/28-30. 12/28 vs. Elliott County.


13) Jackson City (2-6):

Tigers win streak was short lived: Coming into this past week, Jackson City was riding a two game win streak, that would be short lived as they would get crushed by Williamsburg 78-23. 

Upcoming Schedule: Ray Zellar Christmas Classic at Whitefield Academy 12/28-30. 12/28 vs. Cloverport.


14) Owsley County (2-7):

Owls lose 6th straight: Owls came into this week having lost 5 straight, that streak grew by 1, to 6th straight loss, as they fell hard to district rival, Estill County 65-39.

Upcoming Schedule: Returning January 3rd.
