Last year:   South Oldham defeated Collins, 74-51, in Shelbyville.   Five Lady Dragons hit double figures, led by Sierra Kemelgor (18 points) and Ella Morrison (18 points).    Both Morrison and Kemelgor return for this year's matchup.   Morrison hit 4 of 7 threes in the contest; Kemelgor 2 of 2, and South Oldham finished 9 of 20 beyond the arc.    The Lady Dragons shot 48% overall and hit 5 of 7 free throws.   South finished 13-4 last year and won the 29th District, but fell in the first round of the 8th Region to eventual region runner-up Spencer County by 4.

Kemelgor is the leading returning scorer for SOHS (14.1 ppg last year); Morrison averaged 10.9 in 2021.   The two were by far the top rebounders for South coach Gene Heffington, with Morrison averaging 8 boards a game and Kemelgor 7.7.

Collins struggled late last year, losing 5 of their final 6 games, and getting eliminated by eventual region champ Anderson County in the district 30 tournament.   Like South, the Lady Titans didn't lose much to graduation, but Collins' three seniors from last year were 3 of the team's top 4 scorers.    Junior guard Makyra Beach is the sole returning double-digit scorer, having averaged 11.6 ppg last season.     Beach had 9 points in last year's South-Collins matchup.

I'll try to post updates from the South gym as I can.
