Shelby Valley 79 Corbin 74

Corbin loses their opening game in the Cumberland Falls Invt. tonight. The Hounds did not play very well and Crawford got into serious foul trouble early which changed the whole complexion of the game.

Shelby Valley plays hard, they press and trap the entire game and have good ball movement and they outplayed the Hounds tonight. They play way too much defense with their hands in my opinion though, but it worked out well for them tonight. Corbin plays Pineville Thursday, who were blown out by Dorman.

Crawford would have scored 40 if not in foul trouble. What was the deal with his fouls, the Corbin coaches were arguing with the ref that he only had 2 and the official scorer had him with 3. I know that when they gave him his 3rd that he was not the one who did the fouling, I had a real good look at that one and the foul should have been on #20. Shelby valley may be in trouble their next game when they play that team that beat Pineville.

I was listening on the radio and it sounded like Crawford was nowhere around that third foul.

He came over to help defensivley on the 3rd foul, but the foul was committed by Madon before Crawford ever got close to the play. The second foul on Crawford was signaled to the scorer's table incorrectly by the official and the Redhound bench did not catch it. It should have been on Manns(#42), but I saw him give the foul to #24(Crawford). With a little over a minute to play in the game, the officials gave a player on Shelby Valley a foul(which was his 5th)when #3 obviously committed the foul for them.

When Crawford went out in the 2nd quarter Corbin had a 6 point lead, which went to 3 at the half. Shelby Valley then scored the first 10-12 points of the 2nd half before Crawford went back into the game and Corbin never recovered.

Shelby Valley outplayed Corbin though and deserved the win.

I agree. Shelby Valley won the game fair and square. Corbin must learn to play good team ball and play better, more aggressive defense in order to beat the better teams on their schedule. Congrats to the Wildcats and good luck to the Hounds today against Pineville. I will be there early to watch the action unfold. SHould be three banner games on the slate this evening.

Corbin did not share the ball very well(not sure if PG Josh Hamlin not being able to go factored into this or not), not sure how many assists they had, but not nearly enough. Shelby Valley on the other hand, was willing to make the extra pass and passed the ball very well. They are a fun team to watch and could be the favorite in the 15th region. How do they match up with Dorman?

Corbin has to get more production from their starters, four of the five starters scored a combined total of six points.

Dorman appeared to be a very good half court defensive team that generates alot of offense off their pressure and secondary break. Not sure how well Dorman will score against the Shelby Valley trapping zone. I also think that Dorman maybe vulnerable to turning the ball over. They seemed to struggle when they had to go against Pineville's half court defense last night. I would take Shelby Valley to beat Dorman as it stands now. Of course I could change my mind...lol

Crawford led Corbin in scoring with 26, followed by the three freshman of Johnson with 20, Wilson 9 and Manns 6.

Shelby Valley was led by Goodson with 20, J. Bryant 15, J. Justice 14, L. Bryant 9 and Newsome 8.
