The Double Deuce Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Sadly I wasn't able to make it to St. Henry last night, so I don't have any first-hand knowledge of either of these barn-burning semifinals, but this is easily the 2nd biggest upset we've seen thus far in the post season (behind Great Crossing beating Madison Central). I'm 100% certain the Ryle faithful are going to point to the field and its dimensions and conditions, and that may or may not be a fair assessment, but fair play to Dixie for playing under the same conditions and gutting out the win. I do know that each team had to get to their 7th PK taker before the result was settled, so what I'm sure was a capacity crowd certainly got their money's worth. This is the first time Ryle has left a pitch with a loss in 2021, much like with KCD down 71 in Louisville, so I'm sure it was an emotional scene for the Raiders, especially those seniors who were playing their last game with that tight-knit group of teammates. Don't forget, the Raiders had to deal with the passing of a former teammate, Lance Paul, just a few short weeks ago. For Dixie, huge congratulations, enjoy this moment, and good luck in the 9th Region Championship vs CovCath on Saturday at 4:00 at Boone County (thankfully).
