Ryle 2 Newport Central Catholic 0 (9th Region Quarters)

I wasn't there, but this score is not confidence-inspiring when looking ahead for Ryle and their post-season hopes.  I don't have any first-hand knowledge, and my Ryle buddies weren't too chatty during the game last night, so I don't know what led to this rather shocking score, but until I hear otherwise, I'm going to give NewCath all of the credit for having a game plan, executing it, and holding Ryle at bay as a result.

NewCath ends their rather tough season at 9-12-1, with their lone 9th Region win coming 3-2 over Boone County.  I realize there are no moral victories in a season-ending loss scenario, but the NewCath kids, especially the seniors, have to feel very proud at walking off the field vs the Raiders only having loss 0-2.

Ryle will need to tweak and fix whatever ailed them last night if they are to win their next two games and get a date with the 10th Region Champion on the road.  The Raiders have not actually been beaten on the pitch this season, so until that happens, you have to be confident they'll figure it out, and my guess is Dixie will see a MUCH different version of the Raiders on Thursday night at 5:00 at St. Henry.
