The state's top-ranked Anderson County Lady Bearcats (depending on the poll / ranking), take on the Spencer County Lady Bears in the championship of the girls' 8th Region tournament at North Oldham HS on Tuesday, 3/30/21.

The final is an all-30th district final; the Bearcats (25-2) were the champs of the 30th.   The Lady Bears (17-5) were the runner-ups.  

Anderson has beaten Spencer twice this year.

So which is more ferocious?   A bear or a bearcat?

Spencer County defeated two district champs, South Oldham (29th district), 48-44, and Owen County (31st), 32-28 to get here.   The two wins in this tournament are the first Spencer wins in the 8th region tournament in the 2000s.

Anderson thumped Trimble County, 76-27, and outlasted Walton-Verona's slow-down game, 40-22, to advance to the finals.

Anderson County is the defending 8th Region champ; the Lady Bearcats have won 6 total 8th Region titles, including the first title in 1975.

Spencer County will be shooting for its first region title
