This was a very entertaining game!

 

Greenwood's Mark Lacey hit an old-fashioned three-pointer with 15 seconds left to tie it at 54, but the Shamrocks' Aaron Tierney hit a 15-footer with 2.8 seconds to play to win it.

 

Somebody from Trinity can maybe correct me, but up until today, I believe Tanner Jacobs had posted a double-double in every game. Today he had 12 pts and 3 rebounds. I overheard him after the game saying he thought he pulled something in his back, which may have contributed to his subpar (for him) game.

 

Greenwood center Sean Clark had 12 pts. and 7 boards, plus three blocked shots and two assists, but was saddled with foul trouble much of the game. He was the best player on the floor.

 

Greenwood shot nearly 65 percent, but 13 turnovers did them in. The Rocks shot nearly 49 percent.

 

Both of these teams are top-20 material, IMO, and Greenwood should give Warren Central some trouble in the 4th.

 

Trinity plays Clarksville (Tenn.) Northeast at 6:30 tomorrow at South Laurel, while Greenwood faces West Jessamine at 3 p.m. at SL. I look for Greenwood to win out to finish in 7th place.

This was Trinity's first real test. Only the second game outside of Steinhauser Gym, though likely not one with a hostile away game-type crowd; how they fare against that remains to be seen... probably later in this event or certainly in the Fifth Third.

 

I hope all is well with Tanner. You're correct Jim, until tonight he'd had a double double in every game. He's certainly the backbone of this team.

I like Trinity's discipline and ballhandling (surprise surprise!), which was key for them in this game. I think they'll get past Clarksville Northeast and set up a semifinal matchup with South Laurel, which should be a grinder. I think they can give SL trouble, assuming Jacobs is healthy.
