Recommended Posts

There is a chance for a few strong to severe storms across western Kentucky Wednesday through Wednesday night. The greatest likelihood is in the  afternoon and evening from southeast Missouri into far west Kentucky. Damaging wind, hail, and tornadoes will be possible in the area generally south of a line from Greenville Missouri to Fulton Kentucky. In addition, heavy rainfall will be a concern across the entire four state area. Rainfall will range from 1 to 2 inches with some isolated higher amounts possible. Some localized flooding will be possible.

I just received the following email from the National Weather Service-Louisville office.

Quote

Good Morning All,

We are continuing to monitor the potential for severe weather across the area for the next couple of days. Overall, we are expecting three main waves of showers and storms to move across the area beginning this afternoon and continuing into Thursday.

Widespread showers and storms will begin to move across the area this afternoon and evening as a warm front lifts north towards the Ohio River. Another round of widespread showers and storms will then push across the area late tonight and into early Thursday morning along a cold front. Scattered showers and storms may then redevelop by Thursday afternoon and continue into the evening hours. Precipitation will eventually taper off Thursday night into early Friday morning.

Some of these storms through tomorrow may become strong to severe and will be capable of producing heavy downpours, locally damaging winds, and marginally severe hail. Please see the attached briefing slide for more details. We encourage you to keep up to date with the latest forecasts.

As always, feel free to contact the office if you have any further questions!

Thanks,
NWS Louisville
