Mustang
Rumors of the Brossart Mustangs untimely demise, following the loss of Senior Captain Stephen Verst appear to be greatly exaggerated. The "Makeshift Mustangs" outplayed Harrison County to the tune of a twenty point, 68-48 victory Thursday night in Alexandria. Sophomore Robbie Verst, Stephen's kid brother, picked up the slack left by his brother's injury, as he stepped up, nailed four second quarter 3-Pointers and finished the night as the leading scorer with 21 points in only his sixth career high school game at any level. Old standards David Govan and Carson Schirmer put up 18 and 15 respectively, as the Mustangs improve their season record to 9-8. The Breds had no double-figure scorers. After trailing 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Mustangs topped the Breds 25-12, 16-10, and 16-11 at the three remaining quarter stops.
