North Oldham vs Christian Academy of Louisville Predictions/Updates

Recommended Posts

When:   Tuesday, 2/23/21

Where:  North Oldham High School

Who:  North Oldham Lady Mustangs vs. Christian Academy of Louisville Lady Centurions

Broadcast:  Free live video coverage begins at 7 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com

The North Oldham Lady Mustangs (4-7) opened their season 1-5, but they have rebounded to win 3 of their last 5 games.   North takes on CAL this Tuesday, a 10-6 team from the 7th region that nonetheless has stumbled a bit of late, dropping 4 of its last 6.

Common opponents:   Both teams handily beat Eastern; but CAL knocked off South Oldham, who beat North.   Both teams fell to Owen County on the road; CAL lost by 2, North by 18.

North is led by star junior Riley Neal (21.4 ppg / 9.7 rebounds, both team highs).    Junior Kylie Vize averages 12.7 ppg / 6.3 rebounds, and her sister, sophomore Katelyn Vize, averages 7.1 ppg / 9.3 rebounds.    Those three underclassmen are the heart and soul of a North team that is averaging 63.2 ppg over its last five games - but also allowing nearly 60 ppg during that stretch.

CAL dropped its most recent game, 68-48, to Bullitt East (10-2) on Saturday, ending a short two-game winning streak over South Oldham (49-47) and Eastern (69-34).

Both teams shoot in the mid-upper 30% range from the field, and neither is a huge threat beyond the arc, shooting 25-27%.    But North is a better free throw shooting team, overall, hitting 65% at the line compared to 57% for CAL.

Jaya McClure leads CAL at 17.9 ppg, and Sydney Raque averages 11.2 ppg.   Raque is also 83.3% (20 of 24) at the line.

Broadcast pregame show begins at 7 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com.

Going to be interesting....

This is a mid-season game for North, who is 4-7 and is trying to get their wheels under them....   Scoring defense has been an issue for North this season.

CAL is closing out the year...they have four games left after this game (more if they win in the first round of the LIT).   CAL is in the "play to prepare for the District Tournament" mode...

The matchup of the CAL defense against North's star junior forward Riley Neal will be interesting.   Neal - on a path for 2,000 career points - will almost undoubtedly graduate as North's all-time leading leading scorer in 2022.
