Highlands 79 Bishop Brossart 51

For the first twelve minutes this was a teriffic ballgame.  Highlands led after one, 22-20 and with four minutes to go in the half, and Brossart on top 26-25, Highlands shifted a gear defensively, went on a 17-0 run, and led 45-31 at the half, when Carson Schirmer netted the final four points of the second quarter.

Highlands held sway in the third quarter, outscoring the home-standing Mustangs 27-9,, putting it totally out of reach at 72-40.  Both teams finished out the 79-51 victory.  A Sam Vinson two-handed dunk on the first offensive play of the game was memorable.

Vinson finished with 20 points.  Luke Muller netted 19, Oliver Harris 15, and William Herald 10.   Brossart countered with Stephen Verst and Carson Schirmer both putting up 14 each for the Mustangs.  Highlands wins their tenth in their last eleven, and improve to 13-4 on the year.  Brossart falls to 6-8, and remain snake-bitten, as again big man David Govan remained sidelined with an ouchy ankle.  Robbie Verst was also MIA for the varsity Mustangs.

Brossart will host Pendleton County on Monday, trek to Lewis County on Tuesday, welcome Harrison County on Thursday, and then face Scott in a key 37th District seeding battle on Friday, February 26th.
