Centre Football Spring 2021 Season

Featured Replies

Centre did not play a fall 2020 season but is going to play a spring 2021 season consisting of four games beginning on February 6.    I believe the plans are to play a fall 2021 schedule as well.

In something you don't see every day, former Centre president,  John Roush (who retired last summer after more than two decades as President) will be the Colonels' running back coach this season.    He played at Ohio University and was an assistant at Miami (OH) , and from 1973-5 helped the Redhawks go 32-2-1 with three bowl wins and a top 25 ranking each year.    Two of his running backs - Sherman Smith and Rob Carpenter - went on to play a combined 18 years in the NFL.

In another thing you don't see everyday especially at the D-3 level, Centre  announced that former NFL head coach, Les Steckel, will coach the Centre QB's.    He was head coach of the Vikings in the early 1980s and also spent time with the 49ers, Patriots, Broncos, Bills, Buccaneers and Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans during his 45-year NFL career.  He was the OC for the Titans when they reached Super Bowl XXXIV.

Good luck to the Colonels.
