Recommended Posts

Through the first 2 weeks of the season, it’s easy to see that the 3rd Region is very top heavy.  Owensboro Catholic, Muhlenberg and Meade all had strong weeks, while Owensboro has been in quarantine.  After the top 4 however, there is a massive drop off when it comes to good basketball thus far.  It remains to be seen if any of those teams can emerge as true region contenders.

1.Owensboro Catholic Aces (5-0) – SAME

Owensboro Catholic added 2 more wins this week, including an All-A 3rd Region Championship.  They defeated Mclean 58-38 to win the title.  Friday, Brian Griffith scored 38 in the 12 point win over Central Kentucky Home School.  They Aces have Central Hardin, Daviess County and Union County scheduled this week.

2. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (2-0) UP 1

The Mustangs broke quickly out of the gates this week with big double digit wins over Crittenden County and Ohio County.  The win over Ohio County puts them in the drivers seat for the #1 seed in the 10th district and a bye into the 3rd Region Tournament.  They can clinch that with a win over Mclean County next week.  Coach Eades has to be pleased with the balanced scoring and team effort thus far.  They are scheduled to play Butler County, University Heights and Logan County this week.
