Kirk Ferentz's old man spite

Down 35-0 in the final moments of Iowa's win over Minnesota, PJ Fleck called timeout with the ball at Iowa's 4 yard line, presumably looking to score and avoid the shutout. I guess you could say this irked Ferentz, so he countered Fleck's timeout by unloading all of Iowa's timeouts in the last twenty seconds of the game.

When asked afterward why he did it, Ferentz responded, "I figured we'd take Floyd* and leave the timeouts here." 😎

*Floyd is the Floyd of Rosedale trophy the two schools play for every year.

Fleck seems like someone that would get under the skin of a grizzled, old school coach like Ferentz.

Personally, I kinda like the chippiness among coaches sometimes. We don't see enough of that anymore. And coaches who stick around long enough to care about rivalries are a dying breed.
