E'town attempts to bite the Bullitt

Elizabethtown (7-0, 3A #4) has been quietly going about its business this season, cutting through its schedule like a hot knife through butter since the close Week 1 result against Central Hardin. But after Saturday's 33-6 thrashing of previously unbeaten Bardstown, the Panthers can fly under the radar no longer. They're officially in the mix with Belfry, DeSales, and Ashland as 3A favorites. The computers, especially, love the Panthers. They hold down the top spot in the 3A RPI.

Continuing their upward trend in strength of schedule, E'town will host 5A #7 North Bullitt this week. The Eagles are a force to be reckoned with this year. A flurry of big plays by Manual in Week 3 represents the lone blemish on North Bullitt's resume. Running back Cole Durbin and defensive end Clay Coomes rank at, or near, the top of 5A in rushing and sacks, respectively. The Eagles are among the top five scoring teams in the state, but E'town proved last week that they are capable of muzzling the most potent of offenses.
