Sayre 20 Bishop Brossart 13

In a suspended game, finished up on Saturday night in Lexington, Sayre improves to 7-0 on the season with a 20-13 win over the Brossart Mustangs.

Both teams scored on their first two offensive series with Junior Quarterback Cole Pennington connecting with Cory Givens for an 18 yard score, and Brossart answering on a 56 yard touchdown pass from Jacob Leicht to Carson Schirmer.  Sayre went up 13-6 as again it was Pennington finding Caleb Kern and by hitting one of two PATs to Brossart's none, the Spartans led 13-6 after a period of play.

Resuming the game at this point, Trevor Schadler scored the 23rd touchdown of his career, set up by a 52 yard pass play from Leicht to Schirmer, and when Andrew Schwartz knocied home the PAT, we were tied at 13s at halftime.

The second half became a defensive battle as the only touchdown scored was by land by Sayre's Jackson Marshall who carried the piggy 81 yards for a touchdown and Robert Farish added the PAT.  That would conclud the scoring on this night, and the game went into the record books as a 20-13 Sayre victory.

The loss breaks a four game Brossart win streak, and drops their season record to 4-3.  We will host Pendleton County in the "Battle of US 27" next Friday night at the MAC in Alexandria.  Sayre heads to Pineville.
