Notre Dame Academy 60 Cincinnati Seton 38

Featured Replies

NDA beats Cincinnati Seton by a score of 60-38 and it wasn't as close as the score reads. This is the same Cincinnati Seton that beat Mount Notre Dame on Wednesday night at Seton and MND was the number one girls basketball team in Cincinnati. Casey Jackson went on a tear hitting three after three while Seton stayed in their zone to prevent Drees and Dickman from scoring... While NDA still had far too many unforced errors in this game, they had less than Wednesday night against Assumption. The Pandas "D" again was tough, not allowing Seton to get their offense moving. Next up for NDA is Cincinnati Ursuline Academy on Tuesday at NDA.....

Pandas rout Seton

Notre Dame 60, Seton 38

BY MATT MULCAHEY | ENQUIRER CONTRIBUTOR

On Thursday, Seton became the first Cincinnati-area basketball team to defeat Mount Notre Dame in nearly four years.

The Saints had no such luck against Mount Notre Dame's quasi-namesake from across the river.

The Notre Dame Pandas downed Seton 60-38 on Saturday behind 22 points from sophomore Casey Jackson.

"The nice thing is we're winning even though we're not playing great," Darpel said. "We've got a ton to work on, and the kids know it. Hopefully we're going to clean it up by March."

Seton's 53-40 victory over Mount Notre Dame on Thursday ended the Cougars' 75-game winning streak against Cincinnati competition. Mount Notre Dame, ranked No. 13 nationally, hadn't lost to a Cincy foe since February 2002.

I saw this Notre Dame team in Mt. Sterling a few weeks ago. The game was sloppy as it was both teams opener. Notre Dame has a lot of talent on the team and just enough of a bench to keep players fresh. The Pandas look like they have all the components to make a run at a good Boone County team in the 9th.

Great win for ND !! If they are hitting shots, I don't imagine they are too worried about any 9th region team.

Great game for Ms. Jackson. When she is on she is something special to watch.

I think there is one team they are worried about, hitting shots or not.

Could very well be a replay of last yrs finals but as we all know we are dealing w/teenagers. Nobody knows who will show up and who won't show up. You all know the old saying, on any given night anyone can win. I wouldn't count out a couple others for upset potential on one of those given nights.

Way to go C. Jackson, keep shooting the lights out, you go girl.

I would think the Panda's will get the hot seat at #1 in the next poll.

And hopefully that is the team NDA is playing next on their schedule! One game at a time, one win at a time, and getting better, every time.

flatrock, after talking to some of the girls and parents they don't seem to be worried.

3pt. is exactly right with teenage girls anything could happen and there are three or four teams who have potential.

CoachK...Don't acknowledge Flatrock when S/he makes these comments. S/he gets things heated on this board and then sits back to watch. No Boone supporter feels this way or at least won't say it.

NDA is the top team in the 9th region and NCC is a close 2nd. Boone should be sitting 3rd when the new polls roll out and that's exactly where they belong, right now. No one is, or should be, scared of them. NDA and Ms. Jackson has shown up early this season and they are without a doubt on a mission. She is a great kid who has worked hard in the off-season to get better and her work is paying off.

I can promise you and anyone else that Fookes knew exactly what she was doing when she scheduled so many of the top 10 and 25 teams and EVERY one of them AWAY. It will either make them tournament tough or break them during the process. Boone was below .500 and had 6 losses by the end of December last year as well so I wouldn't count them out just yet.

Never sayed they should be scared of anyone.

And yes Fookes knows excactly what she is doing with the schedule.

Playing a pressing team like HC on the road will only make them better.

How about the refs in that game, calling a foul on #12 when it was obviously on #40.

Or calling fouls on players not even on the floor.

While I agree that playing a tough schedule makes you a better team (see CovCath Football Schedule), I will disagree with you for the main reason for all of the away games this year. My guess is Fookes scheduled these games as a home and home series, and Fookes is looking forward to that brand new gym opening up next year, and wants to bring in top notch teams to play in it. Pretty smart move by her and the Boone County AD....

and I will agree with you about Flatrock and that is why I said what I did.....about 1 game at a time......

I never thought of next season, in regards to the scheduling.

That is pretty smart on their part, or to quote a popular commercial "BRILLIANT!!". :thumb:

Oldguy…that never crossed my mind, but it does make sense.

Flatrock…I have no idea who you are, but your views absolutely do not reflect what the majority of the Boone faithful thinks. Your public views put additional pressure on our kids that are already under a lot of pressure to perform each and every game. No matter how talented any team is on the schedule Boone is one that is circled and will always receive the opponents best shot night in and night out so it would be nice if you would keep a lot of this boasting talk to yourself, please!

The officiating at HC was probably less than stellar; however, that is life on the road sometimes. The game was not lost by officiating. The game was lost by spotting the #9 team in the state 10pts on their home floor and playing catch-up the rest of the night. Unfortunately only showing up for part of the game will never get it done against a quality opponent.

Thanks for understanding
