New York 17 Los Angeles 14 (XFL)

The Wildcats (1-3) were minus two of their best offense weapons Nelson Spruce (Colorado) and Carter Martez (Grambling State) and that was just enough to allow New York (2-2) to post the upset. Luis Perez (Texas A&M Commerce) got the start for New York and I think he is their best QB. He was alright in this one 18-26, 150 yards 1 TD. His receivers did not help him much with a couple of drops, with one being a for sure touchdown. Mekale McKay (Cincinnati) had the touchdown catch. Overall he had just 2 catches for 12 yards. Ten different players caught at least one pass for New York. Darius Victor (Towson) had 82 yards on 18 carries. Frank Ginda (San Jose State) led the N.Y. defense with 7 tackles. Jarrell Owens (Oklahoma State) had two sacks and a blocked field goal. Cavon Walker (Maryland) also recorded a sack.

For lifeless L.A. Ahmad Dixon (Baylor) had 14 tackles and Will Smith (Texas Tech) had 9 tackles. Devin Taylor (South Carolina) had 1.5 sacks. The offense did get a nice showing from Tre McBride (William & Mary) 8 catches 127 yards and a touchdown. Also with a receiving touchdown was, Saeed Blacknall (Penn State).

Matthew McCrane (Kansas State) kicked three field goals (51, 23 and 47 yards).
