The South Oldham Dragons travel to North Oldham to face the North Oldham Lady Mustangs in a critical 29th district seeding showdown.

Current District 29 seeding standings:

South Oldham 2-0

Oldham County 2-1

North Oldham 0-1

Trimble County 0-2

Remaining games:

South vs. North 1/31/2020

North Oldham vs. Trimble 2/7/2020

Seeding Ramifications: South earns the district tournament #1 seed with a win, and would play the loser of the North-Trimble game in the first round of the tournament. The winner of the North - Trimble game would face Oldham County in the first round.

If North defeats South, and then defeats Trimble, it would set up a three way tie with Oldham, South, and North all tied at 2-1. The tiebreaker would be points margin (among the district tournament games) with no margin over 25 points counted.

If North defeats South, but loses to Trimble County, then the seeding would be: 1- South Oldham, 2 - Oldham County, 3 - Trimble County, 4 - North Oldham.

North Oldham A win would guarantee the Lady Mustangs a third consecutive winning season, something that's never happened in Goshen. Last year's North Oldham team was the winningest in school history (18 wins) and also had the fewest losses in school history (9). This year's squad can match last year's win total if they win out over the remaining 7 games of their regular season schedule, or advance in the post-season.

North Oldham has never won a district tournament game in the history of the school.

The Mustangs is tied with Scott County as the highest-scoring team in the state, averaging 73.0 ppg. Sophomore Riley Neal is #8 in scoring in KY at 23.3 ppg. Neal is hitting 62.6% of her shots (8th in KY).

Neal is also a prolific free throw shooter at 81.9%.

South Oldham is the defending 29th District champion, and will be favored in the game. The Lady Dragons are led by junior Brynna Blackburn, averaging 11.3 ppg, and 8th-grader Ella Morrison, who averages 10.9 ppg.

Skyler Sahatjian, a savvy four-year starter at PG, is the only senior and averages 9.6 ppg.

South has won two straight games. At 14-5 on the season, South is well-positioned for their third 20+ win season in four years.

The Lady Dragons have dominated the all-time series. The Lady Mustangs won over South the third time the two teams played, but South has won twenty straight since then, and now leads the all-time series, 22-1. It's one of those bizarre stats that North would like to start turning around.
