nkypete Posted October 19, 2019 Author Share Posted October 19, 2019 Here is a snapshot summary of the game: Additional stats at the link below: Newport Wildcats at Holy Cross Indians Football | 1/18/219 7:: PM | Digital Scout live sports scores and stats After a close first half, the Newport Wildcats pull away from the Holy Cross Indians to win 44-7 on the campus of Thomas More University. It was Senior Night for the Indians. Newport QB Kaleal Davis showed why he is a dual threat with his feet (10-168-2) and arm (13-21-210-2-4). Backs Giaunte Jackson and James each scored touchdowns on the ground and Andrew Rath got loose for a late 80 yard TD. Wide receivers Kaleb Thompson (3-71-1) and Simon Keating (3-62-1) had nice games as well. Defensively, Davis made his presence known again with two interceptions. For the Indians, WR Brandon McClendon once again showed why he is one of the best leapers and runners after the catch in NKY by going 5-108-1. He also had another long TD called back by an Indians penalty. McClendon added two INT's on defense and had 92 return yards. QB Javier Ison is fitting in well both on the ground and in the air (17-30-153-1-2). His running numbers were hurt by a number of Wildcat sacks. Holy Cross (2-6) goes back on the road to face Lloyd (5-3) on 10/25. Newport (7-2) will also go on the road next week to face Beechwood (4-4).
