Champion City 6 Chillicothe 4 (Baseball)

Recommended Posts

Prospect League/College Wooden Bat League.

I made the drive to Springfield, Ohio last night to catch the home opener for Champion City against instate and league rival, Chillicothe Paints (1-2). Champion City (2-1) plays their home games at Carleton Davidson Stadium, also the home for the Wittenberg Tigers.

The Kings started quickly with three runs in the bottom of the first. Chase Carney (Urbana) would get a base hit that allowed a run to score, then later in the inning Bo Seccombe

(Faulkner ) launched a two run bomb, his first to make it 3-0, after one inning of play.

Collin Luty (Northern Kentucky) would make it 3-1, with his solo blast in the 2nd inning. The homer was his first of the season. His night would be like a roller coaster ride, with the homer being the good but his two errors were the bad.

Champion City would score single runs in the 5th,7th and 8th to go up 6-1. No RBI was given to anyone according to the official line score. Chase Carney (2-4) had a hit in the fifth and a run scored on that play. Hunter May (Alabama State Univ) had a hit that allowed the run in the seventh. An error allowed the run in the eighth to score.

The Paints made it closer with three in the ninth as they showed no quit even trailing 6-1 at this point. Dylan Shockley (Univ of Rio Grande) knocked in two, with Gavin Homer (Penn State) knocking in the other.

Bradley DeBoutte (Wright State) W 1-0 0.00 ERA

Jack Raines (Baldwin Wallace) L 0-1 7.20 ERA

Austin Hohm (Ga. Southern) SV 1 0.00 ERA
