April 8, 20197 yr There seems to be a better chance for a more organized severe weather event on Thursday. At this time it looks like all of the possible severe weather elements may be in store for parts of Kentucky. The timing seems to be afternoon into the possibly early morning hours on Friday. The following simulation maps show this. First, the EHI which shows the atmospheric energy needed for strong to severe storms to develop. All of the following maps are from the same time period 1 pm EST Thursday afternoon to 1 am EST Friday morning. EHI Supercell storm parameters Significant Tornado parameters This is the radar that shows the line of possible storms forming then transversing across the state. I will be watching this situation and post updates when warranted.
April 9, 20197 yr Author Scattered thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts are possible in the western Kentucky Thursday afternoon. We are still a couple of days away so I'm keeping an eye on it.
April 10, 20197 yr Author At the moment it looks like the line of scattered strong to severe storms won't reach western Kentucky until around the 10 pm EST time period. They will enter Kentucky around then but will lose some strength as they move eastward across Kentucky early Friday morning. I will continue to monitor and post updates when information warrants it.
