Lightning 5 Senators 2 (NHL)

Recommended Posts

The Bolts became only the 3rd team in NHL history to eclipse 60 wins in a season with this win in Ottawa, last night.

With under 8 to go in the first, Yanni Gourde took the puck behind the Senators' net and passed it to Brayden Point below the left circle, who then passed it cross ice to Nikita Kucherov in the left circle, which drew goalie Craig Anderson to the left of the net. Kuch then made a perfect pass back to Gourde on the right of the goal who had an open net in front of him to open the scoring. Ottawa scored and the game was tied 1-1 after 1.

In the second period. Mikhail Sergachev scored on a wrist shot from the blue line center ice to put the Lighting up 2-1. Later, Yanni Gourde took a ricochet off the boards, behind the Ottawa goal, and passed it in front of the net where Brayden Point gliding in and Tampa Bay went up 3-1.

After the Senators scored early in the third to cut the lead to 3-2, Yanni Gourde got his second goal of the game on a breakaway shot that Anderson fumbled and Steven Stamkos scored on a 3 on 2 rush lead by Palat and Joseph.

The Bolts are in Montreal, this evening, and with Louis Domingue evidently injured, Eddie Pasquale may be in goal for Tampa Bay.
