Memphis 26 San Diego 23 (AAF)

Recommended Posts

Memphis (1-3) post their first win of the season and it comes with quarterback Zach Mettenberger (LSU) making his first start of the season. He wasn't great but he did enough to lead his team to the win. 18-25 passing, 174 yards 1 TD. Maybe the most important stat was zero picks. Terrence Magee (LSU) caught the touchdown pass. In all he had just 2 catches for 9 yards. He had 3 carries for 6 yards. Reece Horn (Indianapolis) was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 63 yards. Drew Jackson (Western Kentucky) had 13 tackles to lead the defense.

For San Diego (2-2) it was a case of not having much of a passing game. Quarterback Alex Ross (Coastal Carolina) 8-18, 80 yards, 1 TD 1 INT.

Ross never seemed to get in any kind of groove nor did he look very poised. Starting quarterback, Philip Nelson (East Carolina) was 9-12, 75 yards with 1 TD.

The ground game was not much better totaling just 105 yards, with Terrell Watson (Azusa Pacific) leading the way with 10 carries 43 yards.

Dontez Ford (Pittsburgh) and Marcus Baugh (Ohio State) each had a touchdown catch. Frank Ginda (San Jose State) led the defense with 7 tackles.

Ron Brooks (LSU) had a 57 yard punt return, that put San Diego up 6-0 very early in the opening quarter.
