The Salukis (17-14, 10-8 M.V.C.) had to make a late rally to defend its home court and did so by causing the Redbirds (16-15, 9-9 M.V.C.) to shoot 31.9% from the field. Southern Illinois shot 48/3. Leading the winners with 26 points and 9 rebounds was Armon Fletcher (Edwardsville, IL). He was aided by Sean Lloyd Jr. (Philadelphia, PA) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. The Redbirds got a team high 21 points from Phil Fayne (Elk Grove, CA.) Keyshawn Evans (Fort Lauderdale, FL) added 13 points.
