swamprat Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 At the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. It took 10 rounds in the shootout, but Jake Guentzel scored the game winner. Casey DeSmith held the Islanders to 1 goal on 26 shots in regulation and overtime, then saved 4 of 5 in the shootout. Anthony Beauvillier scored with 13 minutes left in the second to give New York a 1-0 lead going into the third period. Derrick Brassard tied it for the Pens early in the third and both teams went scoreless from then on to the shootout. Since taking over for Matt Murray after his injury on November 17, DeSmith has gone 9-4 with a save percentage of .925. All of his losses have been in overtime, though, meaning the Pens have gotten at least one point out of every game he's started in that time frame. This was one of only 12 games to be played at the Coliseum this season and one of 60 over the next 3 seasons as the Belmont Arena is being built as the new home of the Islanders.
