4A #6 Wayne County at #4 Knox Central

THE game in 4A for this week, and possibly the most anticipated one of the year thus far. Wayne County is 5-2, with their only losses coming to powerhouses in Frederick Douglass and Boyle County. The Cardinals are the standard in District 6. They've won the district two of the last three years and the region in all three years since they moved up to 4A. Brody Weaver has performed admirably, tossing 15 touchdowns against 5 INTs in seven games. He'll lead the Cards against a Knox Central team that they've beaten in all four meetings since joining the district. Knox Central has likely had this game circled on their calendar, correctly anticipating that this is where the district will be decided. They get it at home, where they haven't lost since falling to Corbin 39-0 in 2016. Most notably they nearly pulled the upset on the Cardinals at home in a 20-16 loss two years ago. They'll be counting on that home edge to springboard them to the (almost certain) district title and rev up for the postseason. Will it be the Cardinals or the Panthers to take over District 6 on Friday night?
