Class 5A

The rankings for Class 5A may look a little familiar this week. All ten teams remain in the same position as last week after eight of the nine teams who played this week secured victories. The lone hold out was Apollo. The Eagles lost a heart-breaker to red hot 2A Owensboro Catholic. Speaking of the Owensboro area, the Red Devils of Owensboro hammered 6A Daviess County to keep their run of good football going. The two most impressive wins out of those eight victories in the Top 10 were both from the Northern Kentucky area. Covington Catholic made their case for being the "King of the North" by thumping 1A's top team. Highlands served notice that they are legit by pulling away from previously undefeated 3A Lexington Catholic. Both teams need to stay focused as they each draw stout tests.

CovCath should be 14-0 waiting in Lexington to face their final opponent.

 

Purples will more than likely be 7-1 when they face the 8-0 Spartans from SWARREN in regular season matchup.

 

I know Highlands and maybe 1 other team may be a threat but I feel the Purples or Spartans will be Cov Cath opponent in December
