March 30, 20188 yr I've been tracking the possibility of some light snow early Monday morning for the northern portion of Kentucky. It looks to start off as rain Sunday night before the change over to snow. There may be a brief period of freezing rain just south of the snow area. At the moment this is a very preliminary outlook and I will be fine turning this as we get closer. Check back for updates later today. This simulated radar is from 5 pm EDT Sunday evening to 5 am EDT Monday morning.
March 30, 20188 yr Author The models are still showing the possibility of some light snow early Monday morning. For now, the totals look to be light. These totals could go up or down. It depends on when or if the cold air moves in. If it moves in faster the totals could go up. If it moves in slower the possible totals could go down or not snow at all. There also appears that there will be a quick shot of freezing rain before the turnover to snow. Little or no freezing rain accumulation is expected. Here is what the NAM is showing for snow accumulations as of this time. As for timing between 8-11 pm EDT Sunday night. Updated simulated radar
March 31, 20188 yr Author I'm seeing a chance now for some freezing rain accumulations along with some snow accumulation. This is for mainly the Northern Kentucky area. As I mentioned timing will be the main thing to watch for. How fast the cold air moves in will be key to the forecast. This looks to be a fast-moving system that will be out of Kentucky by early Monday morning. I will put out my first call for accumulation totals later today. Here are some maps to show what is possible with this system. One other thing on Tuesday some may see strong to severe storms. I will post my first outlook on that later today also.
March 31, 20188 yr Author This is my first call for possible snow accumulations. This is mainly for the Cincinnati/NKY area. I'm calling for 1-3". The precipitation will start off as rain then there will be a quick period of freezing rain before changing over to all snow. Ths timing is still between 8 pm- 7 am EDT. The snow won't last long as temps will rise during the day on Monday into the low to mid-40s. On Tuesday this same area along with other parts of the state could see some strong to severe thunderstorms. I'll post on that in another thread. Here are some maps to look at. I'll update in the morning. Accumulation Totals
April 1, 20188 yr Author The only change from last night's update is it appears that the storm has moved a little to the north. I'm still calling for 1-3" in the Cincinnati area. Northern Kentucky a dusting to 1" because of the short cutoff on the southern edge of this system the following maps will show this. The snow looks to be over by early Monday morning. Hopefully, the warm air can move in and move the snow further away. I know everyone is ready for spring to take over. I'll update later today.
April 1, 20188 yr Author This is not our only shot at some snow. A little while back I posted that I was watching the dates of 4/7-8 for possible snow. Could be kind of interesting if the modeling data continues. I'll post more later today.
April 1, 20188 yr Author No real change in the forecast for Monday morning. So those in the Cincinnati area be careful on the drive to work tomorrow morning.
