The annual Doc Morris scholarship baseball tournament begins Wednesday in Northern Kentucky.

Twenty-four teams will play 36 games at six sites in the annual baseball showcase. Admission is $5 for each day.

Defending Kentucky state champion Louisville St. Xavier will be at Simon Kenton this weekend, Runner-up Campbell County will host one of the brackets, as will defending Ninth Region champ Highlands.

This is the 29th year of the 'Doc'. Proceeds support scholarships for Northern Kentucky baseball players.

At Simon Kenton

Thursday: SK vs. Cin. St. Xavier, 5:30.

Friday: SK vs. Ryle, 5:30; Cin. St. X vs. Louisville St. X, 7:30.

Saturday: Cin. St. X vs. Ryle, 11; Ryle vs. Lou. St. X, 1; SK vs. Lou. St. X, 3.

At Campbell County

Thursday: Campbell vs. Turpin, 5:30.

Sounds like I'll be making a trip to Simon Kenton on Saturday.

CovCath vs. Dixie at Dixie in the Doc Morris Tourney has been canceled due to weather.
