Apollo 59 Henderson County 56

Great game tonight in Henderson County. The Colonels led Apollo by 1 and had possession with around a minute to go in the game, but Zach Hopewell came away with a steal to give Apollo a shot for the win. The Eagles held the ball for the final shot and Hopewell was able to nail a turn around 6 footer over 2 defenders to give Apollo a 1 point lead with 3.5 remaining. Henderson threw the ball the length of the court, but it deflected off the backboard giving possession back to Apollo. Hopewell knocked down 2 FT's and Henderson's last second look came up just short. Hopewell stole the show again, scoring 24 points in the win.

I came away very impressed with Sophomore Idris Mitchell for Henderson. He led the way for the Colonels with 16 points. Taye Calloway shot it very well in the first half, but cooled in the 2nd. He finished with 15. Henderson has the look of a team that could be a tough out in the 2nd region.
