Parts of Kentucky, mainly west of I-65, are in a Marginal Risk Area for strong to possible severe thunderstorms late this evening into the overnight hours. The best chance to see strong to severe storms looks to be on Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Most of Kentucky is in a Slight Risk area for Tuesday.

I will update as soon as possible after I get home from work. The NWS Storm Prediction Center is having issues with their site so I haven't been able to update any earlier. The severe threat looks to have increase some for Tuesday.

Evening update:

 

The Storm Prediction Center is experiencing wide are network outage so they aren't able to update their maps or update any storm information for later tonight and on Tuesday. No time table for when it will be up and running again.

 

Those in western Kentucky might see strong to severe storms that could develop late tonight into the overnight hours. The primary risks look to be large hail, damaging winds and a brief tornado or two. Especially for those close to the Missouri border. These storms look to diminish as they travel eastward across the state over night.

 

There seems to be a greater chance for strong to severe storms to redevelop tomorrow afternoon. These possible storms could develop along a front that will traverse the state Tuesday afternoon.

 

The greatest threat for severe storms looks to be in western Kentucky for Tuesday. As of now, the time period for the best chance to see these storms look to be between 4-7 pm ET. The threat diminishes as the front crosses the state. These times are just estimates for now and could quite possibly change.

Significant Tornado Threat Model 7 pm ET

 

Just got the tweet from NWS SPC. They have their WAN connection restored but may take several hours to get their site fully functional. I may go into Severe Weather Threat Mode for tomorrow later tonight if it is not back up. I may do that only as a precaution. For now there is no indication of a severe weather outbreak for tomorrow. Just to let everyone know to be on the look out for the possibility of severe weather.

NOAA SPC is slowly coming back on line. No significant changes so far. So I will update early tomorrow morning on the possible severe weather for Tuesday afternoon.
