Cincinnati Western Hills 41 Bishop Brossart 37

The Brossart Mustangs controlled the tempo, were patient on offense and hung right in there against Cincinnati big school - Western Hills, succumbing only in the final seconds 41-37 in a consolation round game in the Mike Swauger Classic in Bellevue.

In an entertaining battle of wills that sometimes resembled a chess game, the Mustangs led 16-11 after eight minutes of play, and tied 22-22 at halftime. In the third quarter and up two points, the Cincinnati Mustangs didn't know whether to play against the Kentucky Mustangs' defense or stand out at mid-court and hold the ball, resulting in a 7-4 advantage for the quarter by Western Hills.

The Brossart Mustangs, behind 8 fourh quarter points by Bryce Donnelly rallied to tie the game at 37s with 1:09 to play in the contest. Following a pair of made West High free-throws, down 39-37 Brossart called a time out to set up the game-winner from underneath our own basket. Unfortunately for the locals, the inbounds play went awry, a foul was committed, two free-throw made by Western Hills to secure a hard-fought 41-37 victory.
