The Einsteiner Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 (edited) Final from Walton Verona. The Bearcats led the first quarter, and kept it close for three quarters, but in the end, it was all.........Barth. Zoie Barth. When the Bearcats had cut the lead to one and had momentum, (maybe late in the third) Barth hits a three followed by a quick timeout by Coach Richey, that swung things right back to the Bluebirds. Barth and the Bluebirds did not look back from there. She hit a couple of threes and a couple of baskets late in the game to help break open a double digit lead. Congrats to the Birds on the win. The Bearcats were led by sophomore Brooke Perry's 15 points. Edited December 9, 2016 by Take-a-Charge mispelling
keepinitreal Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Bearcats were holding at 6 points back from the Birds with 5 min left if 4th and the Birds hit back to back threes.
RCC9 Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Barth with the daggers! Didn't get to go to this one. Heard WV played well and HHS played very sloppy and nonchalant. Birds aren't good enough to take games off this year. They have to work for everything they do this year. Hopefully WV made the Birds better and helped them realize teams aren't gonna roll over because you're "supposed" to be better than the team you are playing. Kudos to WV for playing hard and almost taking one from the Birds! Sometimes it all comes down to who wants it more. Sounded like WV had the advantage in that department last night.
outofbounds Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 The difference between the two in this one was the ability to handle pressure. HHS doesn't wow you with size or speed. But they have solid players who move the ball and shoot/make open shots. WV was shaky handling the ball and did not attack the basket enough. Too much dribbling around the 3 point line looking to hand the ball off instead of attacking gaps in the HHS defense. WV played hard and slowed the pace to keep it close for most of the game. They should improve as the season goes along.
