Good hard fought game by both teams.

neither team shot it well. South was 11-28 from floor and 1-7 from line. GRC was 7-24 in first half. I have not seen 2nd half stats yet. I know south was 8-19 from line for game. 1st home game jitters i hope cause south is normally a good shooting team.

South Laurel sprinted to a 9 to 2 early lead and never relinquished it; however, the boys from GRC made a game of it along the way. You might remember that South Laurel made it to the Final Four in Boys Basketball last year. Many of their players returned from last year’s squad. Therefore, the young lads from GRC were tested from the first tip. The score was 13 to 8 after the first quarter and 27 to 20 at halftime.

GRC cut the lead to 3 at 27 to 24 after a 4-0 run to begin the 2nd half; however, South Laurel followed that with two different 6-0 runs to lead 48 to 33 at the end of the third quarter. Our Cardinals battled back in the 4th quarter. GRC cut the deficit to 7 points with just under 2 minutes remaining in the game; however, South Laurel spread their offense and made some timely baskets and free throws to ice the game. The final score was 60 to 50.

GRC plays its home opener on Saturday, December 3rd as part of the 811 Classic. GRC Hoops Varsity hosts Paris at 2PM and the Boys Varsity plays at 4PM against Southwestern.
