What a testament to such a great young coach and players that are wiling to do whatever they can to get better. Before a recent practice, Dayton football players marched down the flood wall in a single-file line to their tiny practice field near the river. Silently, they carried equipment along the top of the green mound and eventually down its side. Filing through an opening in a chain-link fence they walked onto the field and began warm-ups. Stephen Lickert, the coach who's transformed them from the laughingstock of Northern Kentucky high school football to a respectable team and a possible playoff contender, stood to the side. As he watched his players do what they're supposed to do, he hoped they'll be able to do something they're not supposed to. Link to full story
