Congratulations to all the teams in this tough district.

Male 56 Hoptown 7

St. X 47 Lex Cath- 0

PRP 36 Doss 6

Manual 32 Eastern 7

Butler 28 Nelson Co. 14

Iroquois 45 Atherton 6

Big wins by the powerhouses....much needed wins for Manual, Butler & Iroquois.

Saw Butler play a little bit and they look pretty good, however it appears that this team is still struggling to learn the offense at times. They just dont seem to be in their comfort zone. However this is to be expected with a new coach and system in place. I think they should be ready when they open their district against Iroquois however, I dont think they are going to be as good as they have been in the past. It would suprise me if they finished 6-4 this year as they learn to master a new scheme both offensively and defensively.

Manual was a little slow out of the gate but turned it on when they had to. I think they are pretty good on offense but defensively they looked a little out of sync. Coach Nichols has some work to do here to get them where they need to be...but by week 5, I am guessing they will be 10 times better than what I saw against Eastern.

I did watch some of the Iroquois-Atherton game and was impressed with the changes they made. Looked like they scrapped the passing game and focused on the running game and it worked well for them, racking up over 300 yards rushing. I know Atherton is no real test, but to be honest...I didnt think Atherton was really that bad defensively. (They were pretty rough on offense though). Noticed that they moved their TB to QB against the Rebels and he looked good running the offense. Hope that this works out for them in the long run.
