Where to even start with this one? Conner was not ready to play. However credit still due to the Lady Camels. Someone needs to start being a leader on the floor for Conner IMO. They have five seniors but not a clear leader on the floor. Someone who can calm them or bring them up when necessary. This could make all the difference for this team. When Conner is firing on all cylinders they are a fun team to watch. Hopefully one day of practice can make a difference as they face Cooper tomorrow. Good luck to the Lady Cougars!

Benching the team captain for three games the weekend before didn't help matters. If you watch Cali Helinski on the floor, she is one of the few who always brings a positive attitude to the game when on the floor. It's hard to do that though if you aren't sure if you are playing one game to the next.

Respectfully, our definitions of a leader are different. Being positive on the floor is a start but there is a lot more to leading a team while on the floor and from the side line.

Cali Helinski is the only player at Conner that has put up that stats she has produced in the last few years in the last ten years of the program. She is the first Conner player that was named to Coaches Association All Star team and Enquirer All Star Selection in a very long time. I have always observed her to be a positive player and she played a key role in the success of the Conner volleyball program the last few years.

In my 13+ years being around volleyball, I have never heard a team captain being benched for three straight matches for no reason. Unless she did something pretty bad, but I find that very hard to believe.
